It was announced this morning that UKIP have added to their election Manifesto a plan to ban the wearing of Muslim face coverings. It is important to fight against this because if government starts working on the principle that it's OK for Government to tell people what they can or can't where it only takes a little moral panic from the news papers for an entire scene to have it's wardrobe banned. It's easy to sit there and say "there's nothing actually wrong with our scene they will never act against us" but realities like that rarely have anything to do with moral panics in this country. Remember all the shit over hoodies?.
Apart from that here's a thought for my friends in the furr scene, How would they justify such a law. Religious discrimination is illeagle under UK law not just European. How can they phrase legislation that defines the Hijab(sp?) or such coverings? Islam dose not say what shape the head dress should be so Muslims would come up with a different design of head cover that wasn't a Hijab or berka(sp?). So all head coverings would have to be banned in public. I'm sure they would make an exception for crash helmets but I doubt they would bother with any costume items such as one might find in cosplay, clubbing get up or Fur-suits. That's right, no more furrs going for a walk in the park in their suits. No more Ninjas running round at Whitby. All banned.
Of course many will point out that the chances of UKIP winning the next general election are negligible, but there could be a hung parliament in which case it would only take a few seats for UKIP to be a viable partner in a coalition for a major party to court. If this is a price they will demand for their loyalty then it is important to stand against them with all the power your vote has.
I know several of you don't like any of the parties at the moment, but remember this If you don't vote for the least worst option that's one less vote BNP Lite need to get the seat. In effect if you don't vote at all you are handing your vote to UKIP and the BNP and all the other parties that are not the least worst option.
Fight for freedom to wear what you feel good in.

The Koran/Quran calls for ALL Muslims to dress modestly, therefore women should not be covering any more of their bodies than the men do.
The Hijab, taken literally is meant to be a headscarf that does NOT cover the face, it's main function is to conceal the neck. As far as i'm aware, ears are part of the face, so the way in which the Hijab is worn, covering the ears, hair & forehead, is totally wrong!

Many Islamic women choose to where Burkas or Hijabs as a personal act of religous devotion and a sign of thier faith; as a mark of who they are.
The way christians celerbrate Christmas is not in the bible. Going to church is not in the bible. The robes monks wear is not in the bible and I've already covered nuns.
Just as many bully, belittle and enforce power over people via the use of religion and it's traditions it is also possible to bully, belittle and enforce power over somebody by denieing them their religion and it's tradition.
You seem to object to Muslim women being told what to wear. I don't see how being told what not to wear is any different.
Instead of forcing women to do something how about giving them the backing and support to make their own choice based on their own preference and feelings.
I do not look forwards to the day I can no longer pull my scarf up over my nose to keep it warm in the winter given I am very short of hair on top and frequently wear a head scarf in cold weather when my hat would be impracticable.

Decide which of these i'm being serious about...
Well, i'm all for an outright ban of organised religion :PI'd also suggest the creation of the NBB party (next boat back) :P
While we are at it, bring back corporal & capital punishment.
Also.. all young offenders/ASBO's etc to do 2 years compulsory national service, actually, make it the same for all paroled convicts.
Turn jails back into jails, not glorified holiday camps.

Well you sound like a liberal chap so I assume the last one as that would be an improvement in inmates conditions.
